First we visited the Mattancherry Palace, which was built by Portuguese settlers in 1555. After the palace, we visited St Francis Church, which is the oldest church in India. We then went to Fort Cochin to visit the Chinese fishing nets. By then it was so hot, we just had to have some fresh Tarupa (Coconut Water) and sugar cane juice to quench our thirst.
For lunch went to have Kati Rolls at a restaurant called Dal Roti (recommended by Saroja Masi after she brought five to take on the plane with her to Mumbai). They were delicious!
Then we, (aka. Mum) spent the afternoon going shopping at various Indian garment stores including Tribe, Fabindia and Kalyan Silks.
At Kalyan Silks, we gave mum a time limit of 40 minutes to look at saris for herself.
However we walked out of the shop an hour later with zero saris for mum and one for me. It was my first sari so it was a milestone for me, and especially because it was from Kalyan's shop.
Meanwhile when Mum and I were looking through the six floors of saris, Dad was busy looking at saris for himself, hence the picture below. If you ever want Sari advice, then ask our dad because he is an expert.
It was an eventful day. We had a great time visiting the different sights
in Kochi and looking at the different shops.
